Translating Cloud-Ink imagery into copper through my self-developed thermal-coloration process, color, and texture.

Project Overview
This project translates the visual language of Cloud-Ink into copper. Surface, texture, and color treatments transform the flow, diffusion, accumulated color, and brush gestures of ink painting into a metallic visual language, bringing copper’s material presence together with the atmosphere of Chinese ink painting.
The work extends from image translation to practical process execution. Continuous adjustments to color, texture, exposed copper, and surface layers give the originally two-dimensional imagery new material qualities and visual depth.
My Role
Project Progression
Artwork & Detail
From overall composition to surface detail, the visual character of the work is shaped through relief, color layering, and material treatment on copper.

Process & Surface
Using copper as its base, the work applies a self-developed flowing thermal-coloration process. The movement, diffusion, and pooling of glaze pigments become a visual language akin to splashed ink. Granular pigment and built-up texture are retained in places, while the direction of the surface follows the brushwork, echoing the pressure and sweep of an ink brush. Gold powder, gold lines, and exposed copper interweave with flowing color and coarse texture, layering them with the metal’s natural sheen.
